We start out with Alrandis, Gavin, and HasKatak are dispatched to check out a farmstead and make sure they aren't in trouble. While approaching, they detect a group of ogres heading for the farmhouse. The three of them inform the house people of the invasion and prepare for an ambush.

The battle ends with all of the ogres dead and a hill giant which showed up in the battle. During the battle, Gavin drops quickly but is revived by Alrandis immediately. HasKatak shows his mastery of his weapons and takes down the hill giant almost single-handedly. Gavin makes fair use of lightning and fire and wipes out most of the ogres all on his own.

After the battle, Aldern Foxglove, the plantation noble, hands us each 200 pp as thanks and offers up his carriage to travel back to Sandpoint. HasKatak had taken some time to track the hill giant back and found a track he didn't recognize. He sketched it for Alrandis and Gavin and Alrandis seemed to think it is the track for an outlander centaur-like creature called a bauriar.

With Aldern was:

Lucrezia - a very charming noble

Ameiko Kaijitsu - a local bar owner and former adventurer

Lyrie Akenja - adventurer wannabe - caster

Jakardros Sovark - talented bowman - bastard of Aldern's

Bruthazmus - Bugbear ranger

After returning to the city, HasKatak wishes to obtain a complementary weapon to Aldern's ancestral longsword. We go to the thieves guild and trade the ogre hooks and great club and receive +3 frost handaxe.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The mayor puts out a call for adventures to assist the people in the area to evacuate into the city.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alrandis, Gavin, HasKatak, and Varus are traveling for another farm when ambushed by ogres and a hill giant and dire bear.

Gavin detects a spellcaster and throws up a wall of force in front of us. We then cast buff spells as the ogres throw javelins at the wall. They all advance and Gavin recognizes that the hill giant is the spellcaster. The two rangers kill ogres and we duck back behind the wall for protection. Gavin buffs HasKatak's dexterity and Alrandis provides a shield of faith on Varus. Varus steps out and takes another ogre out as HasKatak attacks another ogre with his bow.

The hill giant steps up and draws runes on the wall of force. As the runes glow, the wall of force crumbles. The dire bear moves in front of the giant to shield him.

Gavin casts Dimension Door on all of us and transports us a long way away from the ogres and they fled. The decision was made to track them and defeat them to avoid them coming across another farm or group of peasants. HasKatak found the ogres and they were destroyed. The weather became bad enough that the hill giant was lost.

-------------- Insert Dak's group details ----------------

Walking down a road near some farmland, Dash senses a magical fog ahead. Dak cast some spell buffs. Then, casts dispel magic to clear away the magical fog. Instead, the fog stays and a very surprised giant appears.

Gar casts a flame strike on the giant (35dmg) as he takes it and doesn’t look happy.

The rest of the group moves forward as the Ogre’s burst out of the barn and all move forward. The giant throws a rock at Nic, but it misses. When it misses, he backs up 40 feet out of view into the fog. A hill giant throws a rock at Nic…it also misses. The stone giant runs away..away… Ogre moves up and hits the monk for 25 dmg. Another moves up and hits for 17 dmg. The third misses Gar with a javelin. Hill giant moves up with symbols on his body, casts a lightning bolt (dc 18 ref) . The bear next to the giant is a guard/protector. Nic hits an Ogre and moves back. Dak cast black tentacles that are able to grapple 4 of the Orcs. Gar heals up Dash for 31. Dak misses with a stinking cloud on the Hill Giant Mage.  Gar drops a flame-strike on the hill giant, it hits but he is unable to tell what the damage is. Hill giant pulls out a rod, casts a spell making his spell check, drops a rectangular fireball using a metagagic feat. Everyone saves but take 31pts dmg. The rest of the Ogres throw javelins and attack, only one hits anyone. Nic attacks and kills and Ogre. Dak hits with lighting against the hill giant. Dash did 60 points of damage against an Ogre Gar cast holy smite against the hill giant and does a cure critical on the barbarian. If they failed save they are blinded for one round. No idea if the spell hit. The hill giant stumbles back about 20 feet, again trying to escape. The trapped ogres move up to attack Dak & Gar. Dash takes 16 points of damage from an attack, Osh is missed. The hill giant recovers and runs away Dak casts cone of cold, drops 4 Ogrs Nic kills another Ogre. Osh kills another Ogre Dash takes out a third, leaving just 1 ogre and the 2 hill giants that ran away Gar turns invisible and charges after the running hill giant, who is technically out of sight, hears him coming and turns invisible too. 5 magic missiles into the last ogre, and we all chase off after the now invisible hill giant and invisible Gar… Gar does a flamestrike as he catches up to the hill giant, hits for unknown amount of damage. The monk runs ahead past everyone, does a critical attack – confirmed for 38 points damage. Giant runs up next to monk. Sorcerer dim doors up close, but not too close. The hill giant attacks the monk, hitting him twice for 59 points damage with a great club – KILLING HIM. He then attacks the barbarian for 42 points damage, but didn’t kill him. Dash takes a potion and moves up, doesn’t attack. Dak manages to hit with a Ray of enfeeblement to drop him down 7 STR. The clearic heals Osh for 53 points damage. Osh attacks again, for a total of 54 points damage – dropping the hill giant…. +3 greatclub 3 rods, reach, extend, & empower (lesser rod – any 1st through 3rd, they add the feat for 3 times per day) Extend – spells last twice as long. Reach adds 1 distance unit (touch goes to 30 feet) Reach goes to Dak Empower – adds half of dmg back into the damage.
400 platinum pieces = 80 each. Bracer of Armor +5 (given to Dash) Ogre 4 fighters +1 hook swords

All others, 2200 gold = 440 each.

When everyone returns to Sandpoint, Nic's body is waiting for them. After a little while, the body sits up and comes back to life, about a foot taller.

The scouts come back to tell us there are 300 ogres with stone giants that will be at the town in an hour. We discuss what they want and if there is a way we can give them what they want so they will go away. After some heated discussion, Alrandis and Dak remember a cave north of town that has Thesselonian runes. After running off to research quickly, they realize that is the most likely reason the ogres are coming. There is no way around the fight. The town is directly in the path to get to the ruins.

The nine adventurers split up into three groups to defend the main gate and two bridges into town. Dak, Nic, and Osh defend the main gate. Alrandis, Gavin and HasKatak defend the first bridge. Gar, Dash, and Varus choose to defend the bridge near the theater.

Boulders start flying through the mist. Gavin throws a fireball and drops 4 ogres. HasKatak throws an axe and drops another.

-------------- Insert Dak's group details ----------------

The terrible weather is terrible. Foggy, vision is down to 100 feet. Ranger leads the way.

Word comes down that there are 200 ogres, xx hill giants, and 50 stone giants and 1 leader. They are marching into the town in 3 groups. They said they will attack the town, if they can find it, then they will take it. Otherwise, they will destroy the town.

We prepare to defend the town. Scouts come back, they can hear the creatures approaching and could see the torches thought the fog.

Dak drops a wall of fire on the approaching army, doing a wussy 9 & 7 points damage to 8 attackers. Nic shoots and hits one giant for 8 points, and then Osh shoots and hits him for 45 points damage…he stays standing. Gonna be a long battle….

The wall is suddenly dispelled.

Two giants move up laughing “I bet I kill mine before you kill yours…”

Javelin’s fly out, one critically hitting Nic, who was at a high point on the wall for 17+29 points damage.

Osh takes 34 points damage from a single hit.

Dak then takes 30 from a single hit.

We lose initiative…

Osh takes a critical hit…he hasn’t healed…he takes 30 points from one hit…85 from critical.

Dak takes 61 points damage, and dies at -19

Osh jumps on the head of the Ogre and grapples him, making his weapon unable to hit him.

Nic takes 3 potions, healing himself

“Kill the one on the tower, and must I do everything Jagreth” as 5 magic missiles pound into Osh, who is still clinging to the head of the giant.

Nic shoots a crossbow bolt at a giant, jumps from the tower to the lower level, grabs Dak’s body, jumps again to the ground in one fluid swift motion, as he heads into town for backup.

Osh grappling with the giant punches him for some more damage, as the other attackers are laughing at the giant being attacked.

5 more magic missile fly out from the sorcerer and hit Nic for 17 points damage, down to -4 (unconscious)

Nic jumps up and shoots again with the xbow, and jumps back down while 6 more giants move to climb up the walls. Osh wins initiative and smacks the giant some more, just as the giant manages to finally throw Osh on the ground. Another giant rushes up to attack, and misses! That round…the next round, they pummel Osh into the ground. Nic rushes off after stashing Dak’s body, saving his life but forfeiting the defense as it is overrun.

With the defenses overrun, the enemies search the city and steal a “node” that was holding the water out of the city. With it gone, the water begins to rise. They guess the water will rise 30’ without the node, destroying the city.

The group is told to rest up, and then retrieve the node.

The magic guild assigns a new Gnome sorcerer to replace Dak….his name is Dax…they were brothers…fraternal.

It’s the next day.

Spells are back, the other team conned the town out of an invisibility ring. Dax is amazed the amount of time it takes to figure out it works….

Then there is a very long discussion on what the plan is…forgetting it’s to get the node…from some recon. that is only 2 hours away.

The new dwarf fighter shows up, Groin is his name, and AC is his game. The rangers went out and spend time looking for the camp we are supposed to locate.

Its late afternoon when we find a marker that says “stay here and wait”. The rangers show up, saying there are only 100 ogres, but there were about a dozen of each group of giants, storm/rock/etc.

They know about caves below this area and that they are protected by “Guardians with an easy job”.

They think the south part of the hills has a cave entry point to get in. Maybe a distraction would help.

The parties split up.

Nic, Dax, & Groin enter an overly complex system of 5’ wide corridors…without a rogue…this sucks….

The group buffs from wands and Dax activates true seeing.

Suddenly, the group fails a will save and a perception save. A kobold drops from the ceiling and attacks Groin, missing him. And a monk steps up and breaths dust down both corridors – but everyone saves.

Groin attacks the kobold for 48 points of damage in 2 attacks, he doesn’t drop.

Nic moves up, hits the mummy monk and then jumps back.

Dax tries to attack, but the mummy takes an attack of opportunity and hits Dax for 11pts damage and 5 con points and 2 chr points of possibly permanent damage.

The group loses initiative the 2nd time

Groin is cursed, he attacks the first creature he sees, the Kobold – it takes the damage

Dax is hit by the Kobold, down to 7hp left, but survives

Nic hits the mummy again.

Dax dim doors away

The group fails initiative a 3rd time.

Groin is confused an doesn’t move, babbles incoherently

The Kobold drops a necklace over Groins head

Dax takes a potion and casts flaming sphere against the mummy, it takes 40 points fire damage being vulnerable

Nic attacks the mummy again, it saves against all fortitude attacks, but is given 40 points of damage against it, no idea how much it took.

We win initiative!!!

The flaming sphere hits for 19 points damage against the kobold

Dax sends 5 magic missiles into the mummy for 19 points damage

Nic attacks and destroys the mummy!

The kobold, knowing he can’t win, cuts the now glowing necklace on Groins neck, and the necklace of fireballs breaks, dropping the fireballs onto the ground and Groin takes 76 points damage from the resulting explosions…we survive.

We continue searching, and enter a cave with one of the other groups.

+1 breastplate

+1 buckler

+3 short spear

Belt of giant str +4

Ring of the Ram 45 charges (given to Dax)

We manage to get together and go through a bunch of traps without incident.

We arrive at a large new chamber area.

The parties start moving in in their independent groups.

We cast a silent spell on a stone, and begin to explore.

The first area we see has 12 stone giants in it, we sneak back without interfering.

We find a secret area but don’t want to enter and leave the others at our back.

We go down another area and see two cloud giants and a female giant.

Before we leave, she comes out and sees the ranger up front.

She talks to him:

I am Conna the Wise. I don’t agree with my leader that we should reclaim this land rule over the little people, but I will not go against my leader or my people. I will stall as long as I can so you can leave, but you should get out of here.” And she turns to leave.

The ranger takes the opportunity to attack, and Q rushes forward with a natural 20…and the fight is on.

-------------- Insert Dash's group details --------------

Gar uses a spell Control Water, which tapped into the artifact in the ruins holding back the water level. This results in a tidal wave smashing into the ogres and wiping out the entire group at that bridge.

All of the group head to the ruins to infiltrate. There are about 225 ogres and around 100 giants. The wizards create a distraction as the rest sneaks in around the back.
