The Prophecy
June 19, 2007
Deuce figured out a way to possibly track the Shadow Magic of his reveal. He got to work, carving a representation of the city of Suzail. With Marcus' help, he got pieces of notable buildings and worked them into the carvings, creating a link between the carvings and the real thing. This should allow him to find the hidden temple to Shar from his reveal.
Deuce cast the spell and the magic showed that somewhere in a small temple district was where the shadow magic was happening. As they looked at the temples and shrines, they picked the one that would best fit Shar worshippers hiding themselves and went there.
As Deuce and Marcus approached the shrine, they saw two others approach it quietly from the back as well. Deuce cast a reveal and he went past the two figures, that he saw as Lisha and Malcolm, and into the secret door in the wall. It led down into a basement area, where Shar worshippers had conjured a demon and were talking to it! The worshippers were getting part of a ritual but before he could figure out any more, the reveal ended.
Deuce and Marcus went forward and joined up with Malcolm and Lisha to stop this threat. Duece explained what he saw and the group got ready for a fight with three Shar worshippers. Malcolm cast a spell and Deuce summoned his lions. Figuring they were ready, Deuce sent the lions down.
It was a quick fight with one casualty. Kinda. Kall, one of the lions, was hit bad enough that he went back to the astral plane to heal. The others had a tough fight. The priestess kept blasting Deuce with spells and almost killed him. The two warriors held them off while the priestess cast her spells. As one warrior finally went down, though, the priestess and the other warrior teleported away. Malcolm found some notes in the area and started studying them right there, before Lisha reminded him where they were. Malcolm agreed to go back to the Inn to study them.
The notes revealed that the worshippers of Shar were trying to create a Shade Lord, which was apparently worse than a Shadow Knight, which they had experience with. The ritual needed four components and the attacks of the past few weeks here in Suzail were to create the essence of fear needed. Knowing that they probably had all of the components, the group tracked down where the ritual would be done and then got the rest of the group together for the attack.
Notes
- Greg was out this week.
- Jock was late. Again.
- This is kinda fun, writing a bit about this one, before the previous one is done. Hints at things to come in the previous one. And it helps remind me!
- Hmmm. Not much in the way of more foreshadowing. I did figure out what I wanted to do with this campaign, though, so that's cool.
