The Cabin

02/10/2009

3 weeks have passed

The sheriff has been talked to about the casket and that was taken care of.

We informed Julie about the bodies & the fact that there would be no more of them showing up.

Michael has already freed up the ghosts at the farm by this time.

The first week, Gordon calls to have Heather Morgan come back and activate the machines that eradicate the vampire blood in his system. It takes a several days, and Heather stays at the house during this time with her lesbian lover. His heart stops a few times from the stress. When she decides he has stabilized, she removes the items from his head and chest. By the fifth day, he is eating and acting normal although he devours all the food he can see.

Gordon and Steven have been doing some miscellaneous detective cases while Gordon was stuck at home. Michael, with his enhanced senses and tracking abilities helps them out to help support his staying at the Rayne residence. Michael also notices that they don't charge a lot for most services unless the client is wealthy, which is something he can really respect about them.

There is a strange vagrant like person who shows up once a month, rants to the Rayne's about some odd issue, and then wanders off. They listen and give him some booze and send him by his way.

As a side note, the garage has five slots for vehicles, and Gordon decided to expand the garage area for more vehicles, adding more room for Steven to put tools and such over the garage, as well as a new underground area. Michael is not certain what they are building, but he sees the construction crew there often. Steven has mostly moved in by the time they were finished, what with his staying around due to Gordon's medical needs. Carter had been there helping Gordon work out, but disappeared for ten days.

Captain Carter, Gordon, and Michael are at the house.

First off, Michael can tell that Gordon smells human now. He used to have very little smell except for the smell of death. Now, he smells human, which is very weird.

Michael hears a motorcycle pull up and looks out the window. Carter drives up on one of the vampire bikes. One of the first things that Michael notices when Carter gets off the bike, he's gotten huge. He's noticeably taller, and has put on 80-90 pounds of muscle. He's now 6'6", 295 lbs. Before he was about 6'2" and 210 lbs.

"Have you been hitting the human growth hormone?" asks Gordon

"I don't know, ask Hendricks, they have been doing tests on me the entire..." Carter is interrupted by the phone. He can be heard mumbling, "I'm done with tests" and hangs up the phone.

"I have no idea, I have no clue. I was suddenly able to lift tons of weight and eat everything in sight. It has to be what they have given me."

Michael can tell that he is upset as he continues to complain about buying new clothes and says that Hendricks has no idea what is going on but he just had to get out.

Since both of them sounded like they wanted to get out of the house, Michael asks them if they want to go back to the cabin where his pack was killed. He explains he has a key that he is not certain what it is for, and has been putting it off. But if they wanted to take a trip, he would appreciate the company.

Even though it is an uneventful motorbike trip, Carter packs salt shotgun shells and some silver rounds for the pistol, as well as some rock-salt rounds.

Gordon decides he doesn't want to use the stolen bikes. So, he ends up buying 3 new bikes and the three of them drive off. With all the preparation and purchasing of bikes, the group gets to Appleton kind of late in the day. Michael decides to just head straight to the cabin.

The group passes through Sherwood, which is all new construction and very nice houses, as Michael keeps them going past all of that. After driving about a mile into the forest, the group comes to a cabin that looks like it has been there for almost 100 years, and Gordon nods, thinking this is more of what he was expecting.

Jon: you smell wolves as a breeze hits you.

Michael suggests they grab the saddlebags so they don't leave them where a hunter can maybe play with them. As they pick them up, they see what look like rather large tracks on the ground. Michael smiles and says "yeah, I smelled them. Was trying to be calm. Don't load silver bullets yet, could be relatives."

As they go into the cabin, it's trashed. A couple of the windows leaked allowing in the elements, with a strong scent of mildew and dust in the cabin. It has obviously been trashed more than when Michael left.

Michael explains the place is worse than when he left, and that he smalls wolves, not friends, so they should load the silver rounds. At that moment, he shifts into half-wolf form.

Having seen it before, he thought it wouldn't' bother him, but suddenly Gordon is momentarily terrified as he watches, seeing it for the first time as a full human. Michael starts to move about and look around the cabin. There were some propane lanterns that worked, but all the flashlights were dead.

"Can I start a fire? Is it safe?" asks Gordon.

"Sure, we are close enough to town, smoke isn't that unusual. I'd suggest you go together so he can cover you though, just in case."

Michael starts to move around to the standard hidden areas, a brick in the fireplace, a loose floorboard, and pulls out a few small metal boxes. Carter nods to Gordon as they leave, allowing Michael to do this searching in private.

They find the woodpile, it's not huge but enough for a few days. The woods to the front are fairly clear, but to the back, they are totally dark and thick. As they are almost done, an audible crack sounds.

They turn to look, and three huge wolves break from the tree line. They are huge, with big yellow eyes staring at the two humans. They might not be werewolves, but they are still big. And then they are running at the humans who without hesitation drop the wood and start running towards the house.

Both men make it into the house as Carter slams the door shut behind him. The wolves stop 12' from the door, snarling.

"Friends of yours?"

"Not friends, but yes to werewolves? And from their markings, they are of the pure."

"Well, the wolf comes back." says one of the wolves.

"Leave my woods pure, while you still can." answers Michael.

"Smells like just one of you since the others were taken out in bags. Hey humans, leave now and we will let you go...." as the sounds of a wolf pacing can be heard up on the roof.

"No, I don't think so..."

"Fine then, you can suffer his fate then." and the one wolf runs and jumps off the roof and gets with the other two and all 3 of them leave and are back at the tree line.

"Not good. They will be back with more, probably the entire pack. The pure are nothing if not cowards, a three on three fight is too much for them."

....and then the world of darkness went black......
