The Rescue

October 31, 2006

Lord Nigel was not happy to be working with the group. In fact, he was downright rude. He forced Martin to be his go between, as he didn't want to talk to the criminals. In the end, Martin came up with a plan where he and Nigel would create a diversion that would allow the group to sneak into the place and rescue the others. Both sides agreed and so they set off to the south.

The group arrived at the keep and saw the sentries. They had set up a few signals to be able to communicate with Nigel and Martin. The distraction was obvious and it sent the sentries away. The group didn't waste any time and quickly went within the courtyard. They avoided the few guards who stayed behind and went to the keep. There were several holes in the walls and they gained entry through one of them.

As they explored the keep, they had several small fights with goblins and orcs. However, none of them stood a chance against the group. Soon, they were heading up the stairs to the second floor. That's when they had found the orc guards and heard the women shouting. The orcs didn't fair well and soon the women were released. Their stuff was found and they could leave.

That's when the wizard came back and attacked. He used several cold spells on Victor and Duece, nearly killing them both. Certainly putting them out of the fight. When Eric arrived and started attacking, the wizard retreated but couldn't get away from Eric's blade and was soon cut down. The women were able to help with healing but it was only enough to allow them to move, not fully heal them.

They met up with the others and again, it seemed to take most of Nigel's will not to shout at the criminals. Martin and the woman thanked them and the woman insisted on waiting until the next morning when one of them could do more healing.

Once the group was healed, each group left toward their home. The group pushed and arrived late in the night to Hightown. The next day, Reece had more material for his act and again brought the crowds to the Inn.

Notes

  • I waited too long to write this as I am sure I am missing a few things.
  • I don't remember the names of the women as I didn't have to play them much but I did have them fully stated out.
  • The spells were devastating. With no protection against energy attacks, the cold spells the wizard cast were deadly. One spell nearly killed Duece outright although it took two for Victor. Very interesting to see in action.
  • I got kudos on playing Nigel as such a jerk. Not everyone is going to get along and they really liked how I did him. I was happy about it as well.
