The Dragons - Reece

The merriment of the prior evening wakes me with a grin despite the early hour. The flury of activity was astonishing this morning. The sun hadn't yet shown its face, and usually this hour of the day is meant for only one of three things: Farming, Guard duty and running from a lass who looked better with a few strong drinks. However, this occasion was none of the three. The lass who shared my bed was quite fetching and I had no strong desire to get out of bed, let alone leave. But the tone of the women was urgen. About the only bit of the conversation being hurled my way that I caught was "The Dragons are coming". Once I was able to process this helpful bit of information, my eyes snapped open. That shook the cobwebs out in a hurry. And as I am one who would not be seen in less than my best, I spent a few hurried moments tucking my shirt and smoothing my hair. A touch of the arcane and my quickest was better than most.

Victor, Duece and I headed to Byron's estate, possesions in hand to see where they would have us go. Eric, however, was missing in action. The two women I recall him with last night, no doubt had their way with him, and he was wherever they were.

Byron provided us with some provisions and asked us to leave town for a few days. The Purple Dragon were in town with some officials, and Byron couldn't be seen harboring escaped convicts. He didn't want to know where we went, just asked us to go.

We set out just as the sun began to warm up the sky, and by early evening we reached the forest to the southwest of town. Deuce spotted some game tracks as well as some wolf tracks. We caught a few rabbits, gathered some wild fruits and vegetables and made camp in a small clearing.

After it became dark, we built a small fire to cook by and did our best to block it from view. On my watch we were set upon by a pack of wolves. Duece and I were well overmatched by the pack and I found myself near death. The next thing I remember, Victor killed the lead wolf and the rest of them lost their courage. Two wolves had been killed but no one else. Duece set some traps, we stoked the fire and everyone was alive the next day.

We moved North towards the hills where we encountered the Orcs. The locals had said there were caves in the hills and they would be easier to defend. As the hills were sparce with wood and game, so we hiked down to the river to fish everyday. A couple of days later, a huge bear shows up and we all have at it. Victor nearly gets killed, but we best the beast. However it doesn't appear to have been a bear. It had some kind of beak...but I still don't know what it was. More importantly, however, was Victor wasn't out of the woods yet. Deuce headed for the closest villiage and I stayed with Victor.

A woman from the villiage came and treated Victor as best she could. She made him stable enough to travel and we carried him to her home. When we arrived an Acolyte arrive with some medicine and treated Victor. He even tried a healing spell he had obviously never tried before. I heard him faltering with the chant and quickly picked it up with him. My chanting with him provided him with confidence, if nothing else, and the spell was successful.
