Dragon Time

August 4, 2016

Bellytimber is told that he is the local dragon council representative and a dragon has gone missing.  It is his duty to figure out what happened.  He is surprised to find out there are other dragons in town, that he is in charge of them, and that they all know him.  However, before he can rally the group to go help find her, Bellytimber finds out they have already replaced Tomas, who only died a few weeks ago.  He's initially suspicious and holds back his true nature.

Fei Hung comes back from a scouting expedition from the nobles he had been following.  He's wounded but Shane is able to heal him up.  They decide to go back but it turns out that Shane was followed.  The attackers are driven off but not before a few peasants are hurt.  The group goes back to the Alabaster district, invisible, to find the house and more protectors.  Once they are dealt with, the group searches the house.  They quickly find a trapped area where the portal to hell is located.  After bypassing the traps, they realize that they will have to go across the portal and shut it down from that side.

The portal goes to some level of hell or the abyss but none of them are sure which.  The path is seven foot wide and their light seems to be swallowed once it hits one of the many cat like creatures off the path.  Bellytimber decides not to return to his normal form since it would cross over the path boundary.  Despair and fear assault them as they go toward the device holding the portal open.  Shane finds it the hardest, as he can barely feel Iomedae's presence around him anymore.  Getting to the portal device, Fei-Hung cries out in anguish as they destroy it, since it's made of Abysium, one of the rare sky metals.  The trip back on the path is easier but Shane still needs to meditate right away when they get back.

Bellytimber is able to bring up the missing dragon again and the group decides to look into that.  He gets some more information and finds out he's not the eldest dragon in town.  That dragon, though, managed to push off the duties of council rep to Bellytimber.

GM Notes

  • Ugh.  Lost a draft format which would have made this longer.  Really bummed about that as I thought I had a good write up with Bellytimber's time.  It worked well.
  • The trip onto another plane worked well in Strands of Fate.  It turned out being very tense for the Bob, Shane's player, when Shane is slowly losing his sanity while being on the plane.   It was explained as his distance form his goddess and it worked out well.
