Road to Shadowdale

Tabra asks the group to go check out the Cult of the Gleaming Scales near Myth Drannor. She then gets several items to her husband, Reece, to make sure that he is prepared for it as she says it will be tough. Tabra tells them not to talk to any Harpers, as they want to get in via the contact in Berdusk. The group spends some time getting other supplies. Notch was going to catch up as he was busy spending his money. They ask Julia to come along and she readily agrees. Lisha also comes along for the journey.

As they travel to Shadowdale, they are ambushed in the mountain pass by a group. There were a group of spellcasters up in the mountain for cover, some wyverns and some infantry. Of course, the spellcasters are all but killed by some well placed uses of Reece's wand of Ice Storm. The lions take care of the infantry, with Lisha and Deuce's help. The wyverns were the only thing that presented any problems and even then, they dispatched them fairly easily.

After the battle, they find descriptions of themselves on the casters. These people were specifically sent after them with their descriptions. They also see a symbol of the group (Picture one below) but don't recognize it.

They keep traveling, stopping at the caravan waypoints along the road. They don't get as far as they could otherwise but they enjoy the comforts of the Inns.

They head out the next morning and in early afternoon, as they get near the forest, feel they are being stalked. Marcus and some others catch sight of some very large dogs in the woods, keeping up with them. They stop and Marcus casts a ward as they smell brimstone. Soon, they are surrounded by the hell hounds and a demon of some kind (picture two). The ward is eventually breached and there is a fight. The hell hounds do some damage but they are soon dispatched. The winged demon is holding its own until Reece hits it with the disintegrate wand. Unfortunately, it also disintegrates after being used. The fight done, they go to the next waypoint.

Notes

• Bob was gone so no Notch.
• I liked how I did the demon but don't think I expanded on it enough. It was practice for next time!
• The player was not disappointed about losing the wand. He felt it was too powerful. A pleasant surprise for me, as I thought he wouldn't be happy.
• I did think the battle with the demons would be more difficult than it was. However, the group can do a lot of damage!
