The New Realm

Just as things were getting exciting with Kernosh cracking the magical node and with rocks jutting up from the ground with blue fire encircling the city, the Fey shows up with some minions. They are all engulfed in the flames between the rocks and vanish, but are they dead?

 

The group runs into town just as it’s surrounded and sealed by the rocks and blue flame. They try to calm the townspeople as blue flame starts from the ring and rushes inwards, engulfing everyone inside the town as well as surrounding the town. Every person in Longmaple is bathed in persistent blue fire. The flames do not burn, but even so, Cabal is able to conduct a ritual to pull most of the unknown magical energy off the townsfolk by moving the flames onto the team members themselves, much to their shock. Cabal is able to determine the flames will have some sort of effect, but does not know what that will be.

 

Then the sky goes black, and those that can see past the rocks surrounding the town yell back that everything is gone; looking out beyond the borders of the town is like looking into the inky black of nothing. It is not night, it is not dark; there is literally nothing beyond the borders of the town, now an island floating in the middle of a void. Suddenly the flames are gone and the sun appears out of the darkness. Looking in the distance to the south, where it used to be land is now a large body of water. Duncan quickly determines that even though everything within the town is exactly the same, the landscape beyond is a completely different location. But what location?

 

The party leaves the town and scouts around the seemingly new landscape and it doesn’t take them long to find a large party of ogres.

 

While fighting the ogres, the green dragon they met both earlier in the day after the teleportation by Cabal's orb and forty years in the past greets them and helps dispatch the ogres - it is apparent that there has been significant difference in the passage of time between the two locations. He tells them to call him “Flap” and how the spell plague damaged the world 100 years earlier, how the party's area was trapped in a stasis field and finally caught up to the present time and “merged” with the current realm. He goes on about how their cities are scattered among the existing cities on this peninsula, and where they are.

 

He tells them of this world’s capital of Velen and how Abbeypine is next to it, and of a portal he can use to get them there quickly. As he departs, he gives some information about the “Oni”, a race of magic using ogres on the mainland.

 

A guard shows up and requests the groups help with goblins attacking the town of Glenmaple, which is only about five miles from Longmaple. They go and easily vanquish the goblins and are thanked by the Duke.

 

 

They leave and meet up with Flap and he ports them to Abbeypine next to Velen, but not after warning them about “his” forest. They meet with the duke of Abbeypine, inform him of the world changes, are invited and partake of a large evening dinner with many other nobles. Cabal is a jerk. Everyone else is stuffy and boring.

 

The next day the party departs to Listwater. It takes two ten-days to get there by horse. They meet with the prince, deliver some maps from the duke, and the prince mentions he may move the entire court up to Abbeypine to be closer to Velen. He then asks the party to talk and inform all the other leaders of the towns from their world of the changes that have happened.

 

Upon returning to Longmaple, the team finds that all the people and townsfolk have been transported to this new Realm, meaning somewhere in this land are the missing nobles from Glenmaple, but where?
