Longmaple and the Necromic Bomb

19 August 2008

Quick Overview:

The party arrives in town to perform the ritual to destroy the black orb en-route to Longmaple. They have to split up and talk to each of the four nobles/priests that run the four sections of town, gain their cooperation, acquire twenty priests to perform the ritual in the neutral area. They succeed, but the orb explodes into a mist and covers the ground. The party goes out to examine the area where the mist fell only to run into summoned skeletons. The party defeats them and return to town to see a celebration taking place. Duncan dissapears with what could possibly be a female dwarf. Cabal, reckless as usual, gets so drunk as to wake up in the Countess Ann's residence after partaking of merriment with a couple of her people(yes..2). She makes him breakfast and proposes hiring the party, 10 gold is muttered in passing. He is wise enough not to accept but to say he will tell the rest of the party, who ironically manage to get an invite to a banquet that night from Carl as the politics of Longmaple begin to entrap the party.

Will Cabal eventually sleep with the lovely countess Ann?

Will Kernosh be able to tactfully swim the shark infested political lake of Longmaple?

Will Duncan have to pay child support for his new heir?

These and other questions will be answered next week on soap (I bathed once this week - Duncan)

XP: 460 (wait a minute, did anyone pay us to do any of this work? - Orrin)

DMs Notes

  • I had a lot of fun coming up with Longmaple.  I need to post the map, as I used different styles and color of houses for the areas.
  • We didn't get deep into politics and I think that was better.  I played politics poorly in the past but I think I found a way to make it fun for all.
  • I did have to use a new figure from Gen Con, a flaming skeleton!  Fun figure.  I have a few more I can't wait to use.
  • There is a start of politics at the end and it will be interesting to see what the party does.
