GM Notes on the WoD
I like it.
Finally, I am going to expand on this a little.
I recently had this idea that DND is more like an action/adventure movie and WoD is more like a suspense thriller. In general, WoD, and White Wolf games, are more about the characters, including the rules to have character's develop and change over the course of a campaign. The problem, then, is getting DND players, who are too used to fighting any changes that the DM tries to do to them, to realize they have control over their character and that the development can be fun.
I think my group is at that point. If not, they are certainly close. They also realize that it can be fun and add a new element to the game, perhaps something they didn't think about before now.
I am combining this with Scion, which is not completely compatible but I am faking it to make it work. As long as all of us are having fun, that's what is important to me.
I do like the new World of Darkness. The books read a little better. Some of the books can get a little esoteric and mired in role playing information, which isn't always good information. The game rules, though, have been solid and are a fun read. I also like how easy it is to fake things, if needed, based on what the players do.
I am enjoying it and would love to get more experience with an Exalted game at some point. I think combat in there will be a bit more tough and it is definitely more complicated but I think it has a lot of potential to be "cool" in how it works.
