Having tracked Randal, we know what house to go to. The party decides to go to the house. Randal says “I’ve only seen a few people, they were late 30’s & 40’s, no blacked out windows, just a standard house.”
Gordon hands Randal a gun and says “I’m just giving this to you just in case, since sometimes trouble tends to be around. So it’s for your own safety.”
They call up Hendricks and try to get thermal imaging of the building. We get a still picture and it looks like there are 2 humans in the house.
The group decides to have Michael go into wolf form and search ahead while they watch through binoculars.
As Michael shifts form, he can immediately sense something is wrong. It’s not with this world; it must be with the spirit world.
He suddenly started growling, unnerving the people in the cars.
Michael activates Two-World Eyes to see the spirit world better.
Off in the distance he can see a scarecrow in the field. It has as a spirit tied to it. Literally. With barbed wire. It looks painful. (Like from Dresden Files.)
Michael moves closer and and ensures he is not seen. He then stops goes back to warn the group.
Michael runs back to the group, that had moved into a ditch towards the scarecrow. He shifts into near-wolf form, and scares Carter who burns a willpower to not run away in fear.
"There is a spirit that is being held with "spiritual" barbed wire. It looks like a sentry but its being forced. No werewolf would do this. It obviously took someone knowing about spirits to pull it off though. We are going to have trouble sneaking up."
As the party thinks about what to do, Michael has another thought: using a blood divination.
Basically, a mystic method of seeing the future. He says he is not certain how much information it will give, but maybe a safe route.
The group aggrees.
Michael performs the blood divination – cutting his arm and releasing blood from it into his hand.
Some of the blood drops out onto the ground and makes foot and paw prints on the ground…showing a suggested path to follow. The party looks at Michael and Carter asks "are we supposed to follow those?
Michael nods as the party moves and the footsteps actually positin themselves in front of each individual person.
Carter, uneasy, never steps directly on the prints in front of him.
The prints move for about 200 feet before he must concentrate again. Michael is using words in a language that nobody had heard before as the prints start moving again. Stephen and Gordon try to make the words out though.
The party must move over a fence and through a field. At times, hand prints appear, indicating the party must get low. Steven and Carter are constantly checking the house as we move closer, to ensure we are not spotted.
The prints continue, they wind a bit, not a straight path, but a few times there is a huge hole and someone drops down up to their knees uncomfortably. The party manages to get up to the side of the house and up to the woodpile, about 15 yards to the house.
Concentrating, (9 successes) the tracks all move forward except for Carter.
Jon Goranson: you see carter being attacked by something. You can take him instead of someone else, the spell just choose him.
Michael informs the group what he has seen. Carter is not amused.
The party decides to leave behind Steven instead of Carter, and the prints shift to in front of Carter.
The group is moving towards the door when Daniel asks “what’s the plan. Are we trying to avoid the humans, or what? I can sense where they are when we get to the house”
So the party moves to the house, Daniel stops and concentrates “one is in the back area, like a kitchen with a door. The other is upstairs. There is nobody by the front door.”
The house looks like a typical old house, large and needing scraped and painted.
They decide to send Michael, Gordon and Daniel into the kitchen while Carter waits in the doorway to signal Steven.
Michael is fully searching for spirits or spirit energy while entering. That is when he notices there is more of the barbed wire wrapped around the house but no spirits.
Michael tells the group that he thinks the wire would be set off if he stepped into the house, so he stays outside and sends Carter inside instead.
Daniel unlocked the door and the group moved in. The TV is playing as they enter and there is someone moving around in the kitchen in the distance.
Carter looks into the room and sees a man moving over to the sink washing dishes.
Carter bumps the phone and makes a noise, causing Gordon to stop suddenly and bump into him.
The guy at the sink turns around, the party observes him, and then suddenly a wave of force slams into both Gordon and Carter from the guy. They are thrown back causing them to sprawl on their backs. Carter drops his weapon as it slides across the floor.

Michael, seeing the attack, steps into the doorway ready to charge the man in the kitchen. Suddenly, it feels like vines/ropes cling to him as the spirit barb wire grabs at him, holding him fast in the doorway.
Carter, on the floor, draws his pistol and fires at the guy in the kitchen. A shimmering surrounds the man in the kitchen, like water, as one of the rounds manages to get through and hits the man, causing him to shout in pain.
Gordon, shooting wildly into the kitchen, has rounds flying everywhere but none of them manage to hit the man.
The guy in the kitchen throws a container towards the party (6 successes). It’s a morton salt container, but it explodes and the salt forms into a funnel and hits all three of them in the face, disrupting their shooting.
Michael manages to shrug off the holding effect, roar, and charges into the kitchen In his partial wolf form, he bites the man, who he determines is a supernatural creature and only manages to barely bite him but not scare him at all.
Carter gets up and holsters the pistol in one smooth action; goes and gets his "a-salt" weapon, and moves back into the kitchen to shoot.
The rounds slam into his chest as he staggers back a bit, coughing, but then stands back and gives Carter an evil look.
Daniel shoots up the stairs at the person there and hits him, and this is when "she" cries out in pain.
Gordon releases a few more rounds out of his pistol, and the man in the kitchen drops. He isn’t dead, but he is down.
Suddenly a huge explosion from behind the party as a roar comes down the stairs and hits Daniel. He is slammed into the wall, denting it as he crumples to the ground.
Michael rushes up the stairs, sees a woman raising a wand. He charges and bites at her getting a small chunk.
She cringes and steps back up the hallway.
Carter moves up the stairs past Michael and shoots with the assault rifle. Rounds slam into her pretty hard causing her to cry out in pain.
“If you don’t want me to shoot him in the head, you will surrender!” says carter as he comes around the corner holding the guy from the kitchen and yelling upstairs while pressing a pistol to the unconscious persons head.
Suddenly, while the unconscious man struggles against Gordon, apparently not as hurt as Gordon thought, but is unable to escape even though he does yell up the stairs “Get them!”
Gordon, instead of shooting the guy, lifts his pistol up and pistol whips him along side the head. He goes limp again in Gordon’s arms.
She points the wand at Michael, it starts glowing as it blasts; a sonic like ripple moves towards him through the air.
Michael is blasted and knocked down the stairs (3 points bashing). It just hit a glancing blow and it was the knocking in the legs that really knocked him down. He knows it would have been much worse had it hit him fully.
He jumps up, growles, charges back up the stairs, thinks about going for the wand and decides to just go for her throat. She cries out in pain and passes out from the damage.
Looking around, there are no spirits in the house.
Michael thinks the barbs were set up to keep the spirits out, and also that there is a very weak nexus in one of the other buildings by here. Looking out the window, he sees two small barn like buildings, one of them must house the nexus.
Steven finally shows up as Gordon and Carter bandage up the wounded starting with Daniel and hand cuff the 2 people.
There are 5 bedrooms on the top floor, one of them is a library, fairly extensive. The two mages find some spell books in them. There is no sign of the box that Randal brought just a couple of hours earlier.
“Hey…I just thought of something. Mages just need to think about spells to cast them, they don’t need to talk or gesture.” Says Steven. Gordon ensures the two are unconscious.
Carter calls Hendricks and asks if he has any suggestions. Hendricks tells him to go check his car and look in the glove box. Inside you will find a secret panel with a code…and he slowly describes the drugs that are there, and some silver bullets, and some other things Carter had asked for that were apparently not listed on the vehicles manifest.
Carter mixes the drugs per Hendricks orders and drugs both mages, telling everyone what he has done. She sees the wand in Carter’s belt, staring at it, as she tries to make it work. Suddenly her eyes go wide “What have you done!” she yells. Followed by “fine…who sent you.”
“Who do you think?”
“Well, you are not part of the corium. Valkyrie? We don’t have anything you would be interested in. Did you have a wolf on a leash?” she asks.
Trying to hide who he is, Gordon keeps busy in the kitchen taking things apart and builds a contraption that looks intimidating, as if it is for torture.
“One at a time? Or both at the same time?” asks Carter
“Just one” says Gordon from the kitchen.
Carter grabs the man and drags him to the living room and places him on some plastic. Daniel looks at him and says “Don’t Move” casting a spell holding him in place.
“Blood sample first?” asks Carter
Daniel nods, as carter scraps cuts him and takes a blood sample. The mans eyes are huge at the odd display.
“Wow, this is going ot get messy. Last time I got sick” says Carter as he takes up an armed position behind the man.
“But…BUT…YOU HAVEN”T EVEN ASKED ANY QUESTIONS!”
“Oh…” says Carter He shrugs to the party, looks back at the man and says “So, what is your name?”
“Carl, Carl Jones.” He sputters out, quickly.
“So Carl, you are a mage. Who are you affiliated with?”
“None of the Chicago groups! That’s for sure. We are with nobody. I don’t know if you know the structure, so I don’t know how much will confuse you and how much will give information.”
The woman turns and glares at the guy, but says nothing.
“Ok then. Hey guys, did you want to ask any questions before you get started?”
“Ask about the question and the nexus.” Says Gordon
“What does Haiti mean to you?”
“Yes, we work with some drug dealers. We are a safe house and we pass some stuff on. We use the connections to get more exotic components. Pieces of things we would not be able to get in the US. The most recent delivery had some drugs and finger bones. They are upstairs in the safe, we haven’t even opened it yet.”
“So, what is in the shed out there?”
The guy stops and says “well you see, we are trying to figure it out ourselves…”
“Shut UP!” yells the woman
“Is that your answer?”
“I really don’t know what it is. I think it is a nexus but I have not seen one before or tried to cross over. But I think the veil is very thin here, you could cross over.”
“What about the scarecrows?”
“We didn’t set those up.”
“Who did?”
“We had someone else come out and set them up, the spirit binding guy.”
Daniel walks over and says “So, we are staring on her then?”
“Yeah, start with her” He cuts down her shirt and pants and cuts off her clothes and shoes, leaving her in just a bra and panties.
The guy is just panicked and yells. “What! What…what is your question!”
“How about a modicon of less sarcasm. “ says Gordon
“Look, we have some associates in the drug running, they said they would take care of it. They are the ones that set everything up. They had someone out here chanting; I didn’t understand it and have no idea what they did. It’s closer to your furry friend, ask him!”
“Lets pause then and look at the safe.” Says Carter
The man says where it is and lists off the touch pad code. Gordon and Michael go upstairs.
Michael realizes it is a sophisticated safe, with possible different combinations and effects.
Gordon growls, and comes down the stairs and tells Carter this. Carter walks over to the man, places his gun at one of his wounds and says “what is the real combination…” as the man rattles off another number. To Carter, it’s fake. He shoots his pistol next to the woman’s head and says “you want to try it again?” but he again rattles off another bogus number. Carter realizes it’s one of the other numbers backwards.
Daniel cuts the braw and panties off the woman, and holds out the salt to Carter indicating her cuts. He waits to see if Carter.
Carter says “Screw it, we are done messing around. Gordon, throw me that lighter fluid.” As he starts spraying it on her. Her eyes get huge as she starts screaming. The man looks away, not going to witness this. Carter walks over and knocks the guy out, lights up a lighter, and walks back to her with the lit lighter. “PLEASE NO, WHAT DO YOU WANT”
Quietly, he says “the correct combination….”
Crying, she gives another number, different from the others. Carter smiles and gives the number to Gordon. The number works, the safe opens. It has over $100k in money, couple bars of heroin, and a book in the back that looks to be made out of human flesh.
Gordon gets an uncertain feeling about the book. As he was thinking that, the woman yells out “Don’t touch the book, you might let the demon out!” The group decides to take the safe to the nexus and let the book fall into the nexus.
Michael takes the box downstairs and gives it to Carter who opens it and says “vials of blood, like a blood bank. And some more heroin.”
From across the room, Gordon smells the blood and his eyes get big. He shrugs it off though trying to hide his hidden self.
Suddenly, trying to get the lighter fluid off her, the woman, in a panic, yells “Ok, they are out there in the barn. Not the one with the nexus, the other one. They sleep there under the day!”
She is just freaking out; she can’t leave the plastic, so she can’t wipe off the fluid.
Michael goes and gets some water to pour on her, while Gordon asks “how many are there.”
“Three, they are from out of town. Their bikes are in the barn with the nexus and they look like…” the descriptions sound familiar to Carter and Gordon.
The people have been burning willpower, they ran out. The sun was going to set and without any more time, they lost it because she didn’t want to burn, so she spilled everything she new.
“I think we have to call Hendricks first. We have 1 hour, we could take a tractor and knock the barn down before it gets dark.”
“Wait, they have been here for a year, they probably have something set up. They have been here for a couple years, they might have something more complex set up.”
Carter call Hendrix, informs him of the 3 vampires and the two mages, they just arrived but the place has defenses as if it were a safe house. These vampires are ones that Carter and Gordon have met before. He informs Hendrix that the mages are spent but the vamps they need 1 alive to question. Hendrix says he will send a recovery team in 20 minutes to pick the whole group up.
Michael, Carter and Gordon decide to search out the bikes and the barn they are sleeping in.
As they move towards the barn, Michael sees some fetishes to ward off spirits as they move closer to the barn….
