FR Scornubel - Session 26

New Directions

 

June 2, 2011

 

The group of four finds themselves in Waterdeep.  They are hundreds of miles from Scornubel.  They are more than six months later and now it sounds like Scornubel is being occupied by a consortium of dragons.  They are not able to find out what has happened to anyone specifically, such as Teldryl or Lady Ambermantle. 

 

The four of them go into Waterdeep and end up being a troupe of players at the Beer Golem tavern.  They come up with a sketch of what has happened and perform it in the Inn.  It’s an act in three parts, that has Paavu playing Inari with a wig that is bought.  The overall theme turns into “Inari” trying to find a gem stone and the group fighting their way into hell.  When there, the demon points to a gem shop and “Inari” looks embarrassed as the play ends. 

 

Vax shows up and talks to them.  He says that they need to come back as the dragons, while seeming to be benevolent now, have a large army and are going to start conquering other areas.  When pressed why, he says it’s hurting business.  They aren’t happy about doing something that would benefit Vax but do think about the situation. 

 

The group decides to talk to someone who can get them back to Scornubel.  So, they go to the most powerful mage in the city.  Vahn is let in and talks to Laeral, one of the Seven Sisters.  She agrees to get them back to Scornubel via a teleport but only if they help the local Harper there, Talon, with his efforts.  The Harpers haven’t heard about the invasion plans but do know there is an army and were wondering what was going to be done with it. 

 

And they decide there is nothing they can do and will instead settle in Waterdeep.  They are going to work for Khelben and Laeral but not officially so that they can do what Khelben and Laeral think need to be done instead of working in the law and it will be to make Waterdeep a better place. 

 

GM Notes

  • I amused myself, as usual, with the title of this.  One player caught it.  
  • Very big changes, though, hence the title.  Complete shift in emphasis for the group.  It's actually interesting to me because usually this would mean new characters but we didn't do that.  We shifted the story and kept using the same ones.  I like it so far.  
  • I did create a broadsheet and will have to see if I can post that, as it relates to the sketch they did.
