Luxuries of Silverymoon

October 26, 2020

The group has the feathers needed to fight Kydri but decides to get a few more items from Silverymoon.  Drewgan says that for some reason the connection to the tree outside of Silverymoon isn't strong enough for the whole group now.  The best he can find is a tree that's probably four hours away.  They use that and then discuss air walk to get to the town faster but having no pressing need, walk.

When they get to Silverymoon, they go check at shops and see what they can find.  It turns out they have a lot of magic items they haven't used or don't need.  A few of the paltry king class weapons are used as backup but the rest could be sold.  They end up trading for wands.  There are a few things to wait for and Drewgan offers to create armor for the animal companions to help with their protection.  This will also take a few days.  They find a elven Inn and stay there.  A good compromise between those who don't like the big city and want to sleep outside.

The do get a chance to speak to the High Mage of Silverymoon and he has some advice for them.  He's able to glean a few possibilities about the future and what they face.  When asked why, he responds that helping them helps Silverymoon.  They accept that.

Shyrrik is approached by two people who talk to him about his heritage and ask his plans for it.

A few days alter and they have gotten or made their items and they decided to head back out.  Again, Drewgan says the closest connection he can make is back in the grove to the south, so they head out there.

On the way, storm clouds appear on the horizon and soon come at the group.  A group of storm and cloud giants come from it and tell the group that if they turn back there is no problem.  Otherwise, they will die.  Raz defies them.

It was a close fight for having only four adversaries.  These giants gave and took combat.  Afterward, the group says that even one more giant might have made this a very different fight.

GM Notes

  • The group advanced and many picked different classes for some fun options.
    • Raz added an Oracle level, which fits well.
    • Volhoric added some ability to touch the Weave and help his own attacks.
    • Greg converted all class levels to Commoner to give the monsters a chance.  (Maybe not)
  • Ack. I thought I had done this but apparently not, so this ended up being shorter than I wanted.
  • We did take time to haggle.
    • I'm really torn on this.  I don't know if it's group size or not but I do think these details are important.  It's what we remember.
      • How do I involve more at this level?
    • It was also interesting to see what they had to haggle and almost didn't care about!
  • The end fight was tough.  I do think one or two more giants might have tipped it in their favor.
