Hang Tweiss - 315yo Hill Dwarf Cleric of Dumathoin

In the outlying lands of what was once the Mithril Hall, a young dwarf was chosen by the clerics fo Moradin for service and agreed to become an apprentice cleric, to heal and understand the mysteries of dwarven medicine. Working as a midwife for many years but unable to have children of her own Hangelina, or as her patients knew her Hang, became unhappy with this service and sought a change. She was passed over in promotion due to her affliction (and her personality, honestly), she sought and acquired a transfer to the position of Prison Cleric and worked for a short time under the prison warden until his untimely demise.

Prompted by Auril to seek answers, she secretly delved into journals and paperwork that she did not have permission to read. She found evidence that someone highly placed in the hierarchy, an unknown noble going by the name “Burk” Battlehammer, was using influence and extortion to take prisoners from the warden and evidently was selling them into slavery. As shocking as that was, the revelation uncovered by the previous warden that they were being sold to the Duergar as intermediaries of an illthid, was far more damning. The previous warden had discovered at some cost, apparently his life, that the name of the illithid was “Erra Naiuv” or “Grandfather” and had a reputation for horrific experimentation.

Auril, in a rare divine intervention, seemed to prompt Hang to search into the secret of “Burk”s identity and some evidence was uncovered that implicated the leadership of Hang’s own clan. Finding a secret helmet which had been secured by the previous warden and hidden well within his offices, Hang found a religious symbol embedded into the helmet which was an illithid skull carved out of sapphire, the symbol of Deep Duerra, Duergar goddess of War and expansion. With the journal and this symbol, which Hang had removed from the helmet, Hang felt she could present her findings to the head of her clan.

But before she could do that, Hang was censured for her curiosity and charges were placed against her by the second in command of her clan. Hang was unable to prove her side of things before the council without danger and was sentenced to prison with her own patients. Knowing the danger she was in, she managed a daring escape and managed to get away with her journal and the crystal and has been running from her clan ever since.

Hang made it to Silverymoon and joined on the caravan that has brought her to Daggerford two days later.
