Eiffel Tower Trouble
February 25, 2016
After reading the book, which did cause some problems with a few people who saw the shadows writhe and runes pop out, Johnny figured out where the portals would be created, based on the Notre Dame position they knew. Johnny isn't sure what they are summoning but knows that blood spilled at any of them in the next day will work to complete it. The only question he has is whether or not animal blood counts, as one position is at an abattoir. The other spots include the Eiffel tower and the Pantheon. Another ritual reveals that the Eiffel tower is currently being targeted!
The rest get a few hours sleep before Johnny wakes them up. He wants Hugh to try and dream travel again but awake, directed by him, and made manifest. Hugh manages to open the tunnel, although knows there are things in it, as does Gunther. Johnny and Hugh work again and halve the distance and fewer things. Another push almost sees both with bloody noses but now it's a quick run to get to the Eiffel tower. They all make it.
Hugh, Gunther, and George all jump in, attacking the people who are setting explosives. However, after stopping one area, Gunther, blood thirsty German that he is, kills a spy with a dagger, spilling the needed blood and completing the ritual. The group looks at each other and then grab a few explosives before turning toward the Pantheon.
GM Notes
- I'm still not completely comfortable with FATE. I keep thinking that if I give someone an aspect, that it's bad, like a DND/PF status. However, aspects don't come into play unless invoked or compelled! I need to remember that. I say that because I would have given Johnny the Exhausted aspect since he ended up getting no sleep. Maybe Hugh would have gotten Tired? Something.
- I finally found a good FATE system to use. I think it will work for SciFi (ShadowRun, far future), Modern (Dark*Matter), or in place of high level PF for the story telling aspect to it.
- We finished early and then played, and managed to win, Elder Sign! I was shocked. Good background stuff for the game.
