Assassins

May 5, 2009

As the ritual ends, the expanded group sits around and discusses what the heard/learned.

Michael thinks he can bring the remaining wolves to him, but it would bring both the Pure and Foresaken together.

We discuss how we could hide the Dracula Stake.

Stephen asked if we could create another Duck.  Daniel slapped him and said "No, idiot, that would intentionally be creating pair-o-ducks!"

We think maybe the iron golem, but Martina expresses doubt that this would be sufficient.

After discussion (and getting nowhere) the other mages leave.  Julie stays with Stephen and Martina stays with Daniel.  Gordon stays with Carter … not.

We all go to bed.

At about 5:00 am there is a knock on the door.  Carter, who did not sleep, goes to the door.  Julie comes downstairs as well, but stops on the stair watching.

Carter looks outside and it is a girl, mid 20's, and appears cold.  She asks if this is the Rayne house.

She introduces herself as Tami Rush.  Apparently "they" have her family and will kill them if we don't turn over the stake.  Julie starts making a call.

Carter has Julie assemble the group and takes the girl into the kitchen.  Once she is inside she seems to calm down a bit.  Carter notices that she is paying close attention to her surroundings, including noticing where some of the guns are stashed.

Julie goes upstairs to let people know what has happened.  Daniel wakes up and, hearing that Carter just let someone in, goes WTF!  He somewhat rushes downstairs, activating his Aura Sense.  She is a ghoul for a vampire.  Daniel relays that through the mental link, waking Gordon up.

Stephen asks, "So, whose your daddy … I mean, Master?"

She sighs and says that she didn't think it would work, but that plan to start really snatching families, maybe even some from this block.  They will probably start killing people and leaving them on our doorstep.  That may not do anything but it will tie up time and resources.  They even have some photos of Carter leaving carnage behind.  She leaves.

Stephen thinks we should call Persephone and tell her so the vampire community can police their own.

Julie is not so sure that they work that way.  Calling Persephone is a good start, but not sure what more will happen with that.

Michael and Julie leave to track the ghoul.

We talk some more.  Before we call Persephone we discuss what we have already told them.  We have not told them that there were Romanian Vamps after us, that we have Dracula's stake, blah blah blah.

Martina, who has since woken up, come downstairs and jumped into the discussion, asks what if we go through all of this and vamps stick with vamps.

We decide to wait until tonight to contact any vamps (since it is dawn) and spend the day planning.

Daniel takes Martina back to the bookstore and back to the manor.  18 minutes round trip.

In order to help protect the neighbors, Daniel suggests making everyone on the block get the irresistible urge to go visit relatives elsewhere.  Instead the group works to protect the neighborhood with wards.  Stephen suggests using the neighborhood powerlines as a field.  Stephen infuses the ward with mana to turn it into a permanent ward.  The ward will alert the group if any supernatural enters the area.

The group spends 5 points of Group XP to infuse the ward with mana so Stephen does not lose it permanently.

Gordon and Carter survey the neighborhood figuring out good places to hide, ambush, etc.

Michael returns relating that Tami really tried to hide going back, but between Michael and Julie they were able to find where she went.  Julie had reported that her family was nothing special.

Julie calls to report that a tip came in to the police station connecting the blood writing on the wall from way back when to us through the name "Raijne".  There is an unofficial investigation going on.

We decide to try and go on the offensive.  Stephen suggests that we try and comb the field around the house to try and gather hair or other stuff from when the Romanian vamps attacked us.  We find a hair.  Stephen and Daniel use it to try and locate the vamps.  Daniel doesn't make a connection but Stephen does.  They are at a house and a nearby hotel in the Southside.  We triangulate the location and figure out where they are.

Gordon tries to hack into the hotel computer to find out who was staying at the hotel.  He doesn't find anything.  Stephen tries to help.  Nothing.  Daniel calls the hotel and finds out that four out of five dentists have paid for the suites through the end of June.  It is April.

Stephen used the last bit of hair to do another ritual - from the top floor of the parking ramp next to the hotel.  Bingo - they are at the house.  He senses that there are 5 vamps and 8 humans in the house.  There are 60 minutes of daylight left.  Daniel calls Martina to tell her what they are about to do and not to come help.  She doesn't like being protected but accepts it.

We decide to bust a move and attack while the vamps are still asleep.  Daniel tries to confuse the humans and succeeds on all but the last one.  He tries again and thinks he made it that time.  There is one on the main level that may cause some problems.

Carter goes to the front door, busts the lock and we enter.

Daniel senses consciousness and determines that 3 vamps are upstairs, 2 are downstairs and all are asleep.  Stephen and Gordon head upstairs.  One of the humans does notice us and but Michael knocks him out.

In the first bedroom there is a human and a vamp sleeping on the bed.  Not together … the human is at a computer Surfing porn.  Stephen recognizes the site.

Stephen muffles the sound as Gordon tranqs the human.  The tranq rounds are encased in bullet material so they are fired from a normal weapon (thus the need to muffle the sound).  Gordon knocks the guy out.  Stephen pulls a Darth Vader and uses telekinesis to pop the vamp's head off like a dandelion.  Not really - it does damage but wakes the vamp up.  The vamp attacks but misses badly.

Michel goes upstairs as Daniel and Carter go downstairs.  It is a half-finished basement.  There is a human here engrossed in a video game/TV show.  We suspect the vamps are in the dark back area.

Carter knocks out the human.  In the back room there are 2 cots with vamps.  One of the vamps sits up as we enter.  Carter attacks him.  As he attacks, Carter notices he has a pendant on with the Greek letters "Epsilon Zeta" on it.  They are very well protected.

Upstairs Gordon shoots the vamp in the left nostril (rolled a 12).  His head explodes in a not nice way.  he's not "dead" but is incapacitated.

In the basement Daniel tries to remove the pendant from the still sleeping vamp while also staking him.  The vamp twists as he attacks so he is unable to grab the pendant.  He still stakes the vamp but not through the heart (still hurts).

Upstairs Stephen and Gordon move on to see what's behind door #2.  Surprise it’s another human and a vamp.  This one is reading a book.  Stephen tries to jab his rod of force (or his wang if you prefer) into the vamps mouth.  The vamp wakes up and attacks Stephen.

Downstairs Carter attacks the upright vamp and hurts him, but not killing him.  Daniel impales the still lying vamp in the heart and head simultaneously killing him instantly.  The upright vamp screams "my brother" and attacks Carter, hurting him.

Upstairs the vamp attacks Stephen as the 3rd vamp upstairs attacks Gordon from behind (he heard what was going on).  Gordon gets hurt.  Stephen shoots his Hellfire shotgun at the vamp.  The vamp doesn't like that very much.

Downstairs Carter finally decides to do shit (10 hit) and hugs the vamp, crushing him like a twig.  This vamps head pops off like a Dandelion.  Take that, Stephen.

Upstairs the vamp Stephen shot attacks and tries to take a drink.  He has a drinking problem and misses.  The vamp that attacked Gordon speaks and  the runes surrounding him (they came from the pendant) fly at Gordon.  They hit … maybe.  If Gordon had not turned on his "Untouchable Opponent" the runes would have sucked out 3 of his Epic dots.  Or something like that.

Downstairs, we incapacitate the human as we go upstairs to help.

Upstairs Gordon shoots one of the vamps, injuring him.  Stephen shoots the vamp again with the shotgun (an 8).  Gordon gets singed in the crossfire.  The vamp burns away to ash.  The vamp (before going "poof") tries to attack Stephen but misses.  Michael attacks the vamp attacking Gordon, killing him.

We make sure that all of the vamps are dead-dead.  All of the humans are aware of what is going on but surrender to us.

We do not recognize any of the vampires.

Carter tries to pick up one of the amulets.  It explodes.  Stephen examines another one and it appears as if they were made exclusively to protect against Scions.  We destroy the rest of the pendants.

We question the ghouls.  These are the Romanian Vampires we are looking for.  Unfortunately these were just some of the hitmen.  They do tell us of another safehouse where other hitmen might be, and these may know more.  They know of just the one but think there may be two others.

We decide to attack the other safehouse which is only about a mile away.

It takes a week for us to get there.

GM Notes

  • We are trying a new defense system score to tie together Scion and WoD.  It worked pretty well.
  • Of course, I get this new defense score and tell the players how they will be tough to hit, then have them fight some tough vampires!  They got hurt but none went down.
  • I am a lot more comfortable with the system, so from that side it went well.
